the mk4 gtis'a are rubbish anyway, they are only like 155hp from a 1.8T engine or something pathetic like that.
I looked at them when was last choosing a car, packaging was really good tho, huge boot for a hatch you wonder where all the room comes from.

I would be looking for a corolla RUNX hatch, 1.8L 2zz engine , 6 spd gearbox, LSD, nice interior, nice to drive and suprising room, and typical toyota build quality and reliability. also very economical.

fits all the requirements really, other than not being very interetsing to look at, but they did put extra plastic bits on as an attempt at sportiness.

yea i know what vw and audi means (I sell parts for them 8 and a half hours a day as painfull as it is) just didnt know why he put a R infront of the gti bit .

Vr6 has more power then a gti .but only get a vr6 if you have shares in a petrol station and carry all the plastic water system parts in the car as spares .

Didn't mention manual as it's basically a given (aside from the Selespeed which was only an option as an experience - definately an expensive one)

I'm well and truly over FWD (I have two of them and love them dearly but...) Hence the Runx is out.

Don't like (read trust) Mitsis or Subies though given the option easy choice of evo.

Can't stand the ST205 series celica. ZZT celica is way to expensive for what I want. ST185 way too slow (or so I've heard plus I have a ST183 anyway)

If anyone knows of a Toyota Hatch AWD Turbo I'm keen to know about it even willing to stretch the budget for one.

Don't like Altezza's. Too many idiots own them because they're "Rear Wheel Drive Bro" also doesn't fit the AWD, or Quick or Small sections. Would like one but not atm.

Mazda RX-8. Good. But attracts that whole Rotary Culture Crap that I can't stand. And it's also a Mazda. Smallish, not AWD looks good, don't know about quick though. Wrong forum to ask but, does anyone own/owned one of these? What are they like?

BMW not AWD and also not a car I generally like though the 323 CI is persuasive.

Starlets, Small, not AWD, too small.

I've certainly decided this isn't easy.

Nope the Mazda 3 MPS is FWD. The 6 MPS is 4WD

TBH with what you have posted I would be looking at a A3 Quattro or S3.

Maybe a Fabia RS if you can get over the no FWD thing.

RE: RX-8. I quite enjoyed the RX-8 driving experince. The engine sounds good, revs smoothly and delivers power.
Doesn't really fit in with the 'rotang' crowd, as its not really seen in that way. You'll never see anyone with their arm out the window trying to do a phat drift au. Its the more sophisticated side.

Agree with the RX8 comments... it's kinda like the Honda S2000 in that way too, yeah it's still a honda, but it's a cool one.

yeah i like the RX-8 as well. though it could do with a few less 'rotor' motifs all through it. dunno how fuel consumption is, though apparently is better than previous generations of 13b.

if you really want a turbo AWD hatch, then you are pretty much limited to golf / A3 / GTiR.

the seats in GTi golf are really nice, but i think i prefer the driving position of the A3 - slightly lower. cant say i've ever driven a manual A3 though.

dont forget $3500 for cambelt + waterpump on a V6

Thats what happened Backfire seemingly broke the cambelt and bent damn near all 24 valves which were close to $100 each. Then after a week the brand new genuine cambelt tensioner fell to pieces and bend about half of the new valves

AWD is preferable to RWD. Just want something new. I've done FWD and TBH don't trust my own self control in a turbo RWD. Also I tend to go looking for gravel when I can so that would definately be a bonus.

The RX-8 is certainly looking more and more like a good option but for the price I could get a newer A3 and they trump the RX-8 IMO.

What annoys me most is that there aren't any really good looking, turbo hatchs that are AWD.

The S2000 is another good option I haven't really put much thought into but then again it is
A) Honda
B)Convertible - pillarless drives me nuts, and honda can't get a sunroof right how are they going to do a whole roof?
C)Honda
D)Farkin Expensive
E)Can't justify forking out that much for a Honda.

My other thoughts are that I should maybe look for things like a:

Citroen Xsara, Peugeot 206, Ford Focus, Skoda Fabia etc. Most of you have probably noticed a pattern here - but hear me out.

These car's are all AWD and Turbo in the rallys. Due to homologation (sp) doesn't this mean that there should be road versions of these? Hatch, AWD, Turbo, Quick. Everything I'm trying to find. But look as I may they don't seem to exist. Am I mistaken?
