Courier help....

Postby FST4RD » Mon Jun 16, 2008 7:31 pm

Have a push bike frame that needs to go to upper hutt, rang fastway couriers and they quoted $22 and I was fine with that, they said ring back tomorrow and we'll come get it. So rang them back the following day and they said $110! God just about dropped dead! Ended up talking to the manager who said blah blah suck it up and deal with it, awesome customer service! Way to promote your company! They did say however that if you put the frame (which is just wrapped in cardboard) in a bigger bike box that the price drops to $65 :? Not sure how making the product bigger means they will send it for less??
Well short issue, does anyone use a courier regulary that they could send something on my behalf cheaper then $65? Or heading up there soon that they could take this? If you can take it there's some $$$ in it for you and if you can send it cheap there's some beer in it...
The size of the package is 102cm x 68cm x 18cm and 3kg's and diamond shape.

Thanks

They are great like that.

Did you also know that they provide no guarantee against damage on s/h car parts sent with them,

so i found out after they damaged a package I sent.

But as they had no idea what the part is ,
or had any mechanical knowledge,
I convinced them it was not a car part and they have put a claim through,
but apparantly it take s 3 months for the claim to go thru.

I am still waiting for payment, and they still keep saying it is coming.

Someone should start up a friendly, easy to deal with, trust worthy, reasonably priced courier company, something that none of the ones in NZ are....
I reckon if you started up a courier company like I discribed you would do well!

From my experience poste haste are the cheapest, easiest to deal with, and there just as fast as nzc (but there still just another nz courier company  ).

unless you tried mainfreight??
I sent a supercharged ae92 gearbox up for $50, a diff for $60 (though it was on a pallet), trouble is they go off size of package. Just an idea to use mainfreight as they deliver depot to depot with cash sales unless you have an account, and i've had no troubles with sending stuff or any damage or anything like that

Fastways Bites. My folks used to use them untill the d1cked us round on parcels. Mum buys tickets though an account, sent them to me, the chch courier wouldnt pick up the parcel as the ticket wasnt bought through him. Didnt tell me though, I had to ring up and find out why the parcel hadnt been collected. My responce was I'll use a REAL courier company then! Ive always used NZC.

to be honest, i cannot work out how fastways are still in business.
they are by far the worst courier company out there. by a huge margin.

as useless as FW are i dont think i've ever had anything lost by them in about 7 years. i'd imagine they would be useless if something did get lost though
only ever use them if you're not in a hurry

I work for NZ couriers and whenever someone calls me regarding a price I always ask how fast do they need it to get there.

NZ couriers is a overnight service, however Post Haste which is the sister company does the 3 day service. I always advise people about that service as well if its not required overnight.

Most courier companys deal with small or med sized items... larger items such as bikes etc I suggest Mainfreight as they are super good with large items.... again it depends on how fast you want it to get to its destination will depend on the price you may have to pay
