Suprafest 09

Postby cat007 » Thu Jun 19, 2008 9:21 am

Suprafest 08 was great. Almost everyone I spoke to loved the autocross.

I'm all keen for a proper track day at Puke or Taupo, or anywhere really but the problem is a lot of people will SAY they want a track day, but won't be willing to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to the crunch. So who SERIOUSLY would be willing to pay $100-$120 (could be more if there isn't enough people) for a track day?

Poll will run for 14 days. If you aren't on here withing 14 days you're not dedicated enough to vote :P

You could always just tag along at a pukekohe open day. they happen fairly regularly and you wouldn't be hamstrung by having to find enough people to pay for itself or people pulling out.

I'm confused. You know the crunch? Or you are the crunch?

Either way, most people cant handle the crunch, who, or whatever it may be

That's probably what will happen to the Supra's who want a go round a track. I am VERY sceptical about SF09 having a roundy roundy track day.

People are useless - end of story lol

out of all the surveys i got back, only 2 mentioned track events.

Autocross and drags are what the majority of people enjoyed and want to see again next year.

$4500 for puke
taupo is about the same for a decent track (there short club track is cheaper, but not suited to supras) and the drags at puke are about $4k for the basic set up.

we are looking into it! believe me. But we are looking at the bigger picture which alot of you arent.

Public day was looked at, but for majority of people it will be their first time on the track and thats not a good idea when you have full on race cars out there at the same time.

Can this just die already?

having to supprt a family on an invalids benefit is rather restricting, but if i had the money, i'd rather a trackday than the drags, know dad would too, and know a few other supra owners that would as well, that weren't at suprafest. no offence intended matt, and not trying to shitstir or anything, just my opinion that when our supras are running, and win lotto to cover gas, would rather pay more for puke or taupo then go to the drags.

for instance, if you have a slow car, and are doing 15sec quarters, thats 15sec of tracktime per run. say you have 4 runs for racing, and 4-8 for grudge, thats 3 minutes of total tracktime of actually driving your car!

a very slow lap at puke at 1:30, you only have two laps to equal the total tracktime that you had on the dragstrip.

i know where i'd rather spend the money...

A track day is just like drag racing but you don't cruise down the return road

You're full noise, balls out all the way.

Maybe people are scared of their own driving skill, or lack thereof. Well harden up love, no better way to learn 8)

Whatever happens will happen, Hunt if you are so eager to have a track day why not put your hand up to take over the organisation/administration part of it? Less talking about it, more actually doing something about it...

That's still not going to change the fact that Supra owners are poor and wont want to break their babies.

Track day isn't going to happen, even though people may want it to. There just isn't enough people willing to chip in

I was curious and thought, maybe, just maybe, it could be another way to encourage Supra owners to get out of their shell

So you want to encourage how many people that are on SCONZ and never actually venture on to TS?

meh - the more cars the better. Supra's wont turn up - everyone that owns a supra has an excuse for it not going "oh I was replacing the thermostat at.....blah f*cking blah" - I'm reaching out to the non-supra people - you know, the guys that make the event actually happen....

Not at all.

There was a great turn out of MKIV's - but even with the large amount of you guys there if there was no "other" class - it wouldn't be able to be run without each even costing twice (or more) as much as it did!

I think we should advertise it as Suprafest but really, realistically we need to reach out to everyone else - fodder I believe they're called

BTW Emz - have you had your photo-shoot yet?
