Has anyone ever watched the WRC shakedown?

Postby B1NZ » Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:29 pm

Going up to Hamilton to watch the rally this year, Been quite a few times but I have never seen the shakedown,

It runs at mystery creek from 8:00am-12noon, So has anyone ever seen this take place? Is it worth taking an extra day off to watch, The ceremonial start is later on that night.?

For anyone that is interested in the timetable for the event this year:

Hi Dude.
I watched the shakedown in 2006.
Quite cool, pretty low key - they all spank around a 2 or 3km mostly gravel track around the Mystery Creek complex.
They go out for a lap or 2 come in change gearbox, go back out. This day is mainly to check all the spare gearboxes work ok etc.
Good chance to see the top guys up real close if you go inside and watch their servicing. The drivers hang around a bit while they technicians are changing bits on the cars.
Valentino Rossi was so laid back! Most people were hanging around to get a glimse of him.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
