A side note here which convinced my employer to get company cars.
Insurance usually is valid for private use only, the second you step into the car for work purposes you usually aren't covered. hence the title on most policy's = "Private motor vehicle insurance"
The bad thing for the employer (bonus for you) is that it becomes your place of work and in instances of accidents they may be accountable for losses there.
It is a bit of a gray area in insurance but worth noting if you do use your car for work purposes. Also a good argument to get a company car.

sleeektoy makes a fair point.
When i've used my own car for work purposes its usually categorised as 'getting to work where 'work' is not my usual office' - however because i'm still commuting I figure I have a defence should my insurance firm ever give me grief over a claim.
Still if you do regularly use your car for work purposes you best check the fine print on your policy (I use mine infrequently enough that it doesntm ake much difference to me.)

Insure on a commerical policy and it normally goes down with most companies.
You are now rated with taxi drivers and couriers as "Profrssional Drivers" and therefore less likley to have an accident for some reason?

Ways to loose your job 101?
Agreed.
At my old job I got paid 62c p/km when I got sent to training courses, I'd round the figure up, but never more than like 7-8kms. It's too easy to check distances; just put your start and finish points into wises.co.nz and it'll tell you exactly how far it is.
it was pretty good at Hell's Pizza. $2 per drive doesn't sound like alot, but if you pick and choose your drives and get them all going in the same direction it's all good. I was managing about 20 drives per night plus 4 hours wages.
