altezza dyno run

some of you might remember the 2jzgte altezza with twin T70's that my mate and I built,
well it was its first run on the dyno yesterday.

on 9psi it did 290kw at the wheels, bring on high boost 8)

Is it still running with no waste gates, and using an external on the intercooler piping to control boost?

Pics of dyno sheet?

What was the lag like

Full details of the set up would be awsome, this is going to be insane

damn... that'll be a handful to drive.

How does it handle with the 2j in it?
I assume it was a 1gfe powered one?

Awesome I had just been thinking about that car recently. Thats just unreal, good start. I 2nd JustinSpiderholdens question though, quite interested to see what became of that.

you can get altezzas with 2JZ's from the factory, albeit 4WD.

funny, i was actually working on one today, and wondering why no-one had built a 2jzgte sedan.

and here we are!

two T70s sounds excessive 8O

IS300's come out with 2JZ-GE's, so i'm sure it'll just be a turbo engine upgrade and supporting mods to get it going. pretty easy.
A little bit more tricky unless the IS300 Subframe bolts up to a IS200/RS200 chassis (which it prob does)

it was a 3sge beams car originally,

from the small drive adam took it for today it handles really well

adam told me it was actually quite nice to drive,
boost was on by 4000 quite surprising considering the turbos,

it was only on the dyno for a basic tune, so no dyno sheets as yet
they wouldnt road tune it for some reason :lol:
we have a few issues to sort out but nothing major the setup worked really well
and yea its still running with no wastegates, just one 50mm w/g on the intake side, been told that its actually very quiet when its releasing,

originally we'd hoped that it would control boost (which it does fine) and work as a bov, but the bov part not so good.

after we have fixed the small issues and moved the clutch master so it doesnt get so hot it should be back to the dyno, then let the fun begin,

heres a pic of the setup, no recent ones. will update on the weekend

Cool @ the intake side Wastegate, apparently it's more efficient that the exhaust side wastegate system.

Also is it legal to remove the Alloy Bar that runs inbetween the 2 chassis rails at the front?

far from it,
it was a 3sge engine to start,
and it was a fu*k load of work, when we started the project altezza parts werent that easy to come by, so no subframes etc to eb found

didnt really care about the alloy bar to be honest, we upgraded it to a dirty big fridge

I'd say so, not to mention very hard working turbos and generally not how I'd do it but as you say - neat build, will be interesting to see how it goes and its cool to see something done different.

All I no is that thing is going to be a handful under high boost and full throttle I'm also assuming you won't see full boost till after 5000 RPM,have you lifted the rev limit at all to give you more of a useable power-band.

What size wheels and tyres are you running I would think at least a 9.5-10' rears with a 285 plus wide tyre would help alot to get the power to the ground.

they tyres are the same size as factory, 215 45 17's

one word, sick
awesome to drive, pity about the weather and not being able to use all the throttle to its full potential,

did a couple of mods to it today, looks like it will be back to the dyno for more tuning soon,

Adam has been talking today about 20psi but I guess it depends on the tuning as to where the safe limit will be.
Went for a quick drive with Simon today and no traction is the understatement of the year. As soon as boost comes on at about 4000rpm the wheels break loose :!: And thats at about 80k in 4th gear 8O

I think you'll have a wicked car for the dyno but with those 215/45/17 I don't think they'll be much chop under full throttle or even 1/2 throttle I use a 285 with the stock turbo's at 1.2 bar and there hanging on for dear life under full throttle so good luck with that.

I guess that cars built for different reasons to ours Coryn.......it sure will be a loose unit with 215's tho. It'll get really frustrating not to be able to unleash the HP just as it was when I used to have a powerful RWD.

I like the idea of putting big engines in small cars tho 8)

tyre and wheels will be looked at in due time,

at this stage adam is just stoked to have it drivable, the original build idea was to be a daily driver not a drag weapon,
