love my tezza, came with lots of suspension bits n pieces.
gas milage is pretty good in mine as well, better than my 101 levin neways, but that was getting a bit poked.
air sensor does get dirty, mine was giving a clean and make a very noticable difference by seat of my pants and on dyno plot, if could remember where i put it id post it up.
and i have seen what i think was a 2jz saloon. 1s300 i beleive it was, walked past it comming back from the rugby one night.
above this is a line

I just traded up from a Levin BZ-G to a RS200-Z 6MT with the 3SGE a few months ago. Its not a bad motor, reminds me of the 4AGE 20v a lot in its lack of power down low but watch out once you hit 5K onwards. They're a really nice car to drive, handle amazing & RWD fun to boot.
You can find lots of info on them HERE on the NZ/OZ Altezza club forum.
Not a lot goes wrong with them. Just small niggly stuff that can be easily fixed or prevented with good maintenance. It is a Lexus after all

There is a limited edition model which is supercharged so I assume it's 1GGZE'd. It was in NZPC a couple of years ago, I'd look through my collection to see but I can't be bothered

Nope, that was an aftermarket kit/car, was the VVTI 1GFE with a supercharger on, gave it similar numbers to the RS200 but a bit more torque I'm guessing.

a 1GFZE that's just silly.
I remember in the following yearbook they listed it as a 3SGZE and a 3SGTE version as well
edit: ah yes found it, issue 82. Five years ago 8O . TTE are responsible

naw the GTR's are setup much better, the gitas are more like a hilux or something with transfer case on the side of the gearbox and a driveshaft running foward to the front diff.

You can get a TTE compressor kit for the AS200 1G-FE if you're real keen

Speaking from experience, Im now on my second altezza, get the RS200 Z Edition, it has a few extras over the std RS200 i.e. tints, factory lsd

The 6 cylinder chews the gas alot more than the 4, to the tune of 200kms per tank, they both have the BEAMS vvti system which also is good.

not to do do a pod filter just don't it kills the cars performance unless you get an aftermarket ECU

Jump onto the NZ Altezza Cluband check them out there, heaps of info.

I think you will find both versions will have their pros and cons. For cheap and easy to find fun, the 3SGE 6 speed will be what you want.

Anyone who reckons the 6 uses more gas than the 4, might want to look at their driving.. From my experience the 6 is the fuel economy version even when both driven softly.

Im currently running different setups with my 1GFE Altezza. So far around 1100kms per 60litres (yes, thats about 18km/l) The 3SGE beams certainly does no where near that, about 700kms per 60litres at best in stock form.

I have only ever seen 1 factory 6 speed manual 1GFE in NZ.

$12k should get what you are looking for, fair bit of car for the money really.

The car was doing 780kms to 60l in bone stock form around town. Now with Supra 5 speed, taller ratio 98-01 RS200 LSD diff, some smart wiring, TTE charger and conservative driving comes good kms. I have done 600kms from 30l (20km/l) on a recent trip down south. But back in town you cant get that efficiency. :(

All the RS200-Z & L do as far as Im aware. Watch out for the base model RS200, as they don't have one. According to this site it wasn't even an option on them http://www.japanvehicles.com/newcars/toyota/Altezza/equipRS200.htm
