need a measurement off a hilux caliper, anyone?

Postby l1ttle_d3vil » Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:09 pm

hi there,
does anyone have a front hilux 4 pot caliper off their vehicle, with the pistons removed?
I need to know the thickness of the outside "wall" of the caliper (on the wheel side).

hope this makes sense, can provide pics if needed!

im wanting to know how thick the wall circled in green is. obviously the pistons will need to be removed to do this, as the other side of this wall is "behind" the piston.

are you measuring the distance arrowed in red?

measure from outer face to end of piston.

i could pull one to bits to give a wall thickness, but if you are going to do what i suspect you are, then look for a different disc offset or fit spacers.

nah no worries, i may have found a set now anyway so i'll fit them and see how much room i've got to make.

the previous owners ground the side of the calipers off to fit the wheels on but took a bit too much off and ended up going right through the caliper wall so it leaked

I don't know how much they've taken off, but im hoping if I fit some 5mm spacers it should be enough to have factory hilux calipers on.
