Looking into race seats in wgtn.

I'm looking into seats and there is the obvious Racetech, which I know is very good but their prices are pretty high and the budget probably won't go there. I almost bought my dad's brand new 4009HR which was sexy as a sexy thing but it was the wrong size

Anyway what about Racepro? There isn't much info about them on the www.racepro.co.nz site. Only measurements, nothing about weights or FIA (doubt it) etc etc. I tried emailing them but got no reply.

Is there a Racepro supplier in Wgtn? I'd really like to try one before ordering one from the site.

What other options are there? Im kind of in the middle market, maybe around $500 to 600 for a seat. Which would have bought a racetech not long ago

Momo, Sparco, Sabelt i'm pretty sure do something in that price range. I've found the Momo T-frame to be a good value for money seat.

I had a look at the maclennan site and they didn't have much at all, but that could just be the site itself. Hopefully its a different story instore.

Is the T-Frame still in production or is that an old one?

The T-frame is still in production. is renamed to T-Club now. Even if Maclennans havent got it in store, they can usually get it in so you can at least see it in the flesh.

I got 2 of the new racetech 1000 for about $600 a seat, they are very good seats, If you would like to sit in one you are welcome to come and see me in J'ville and try mine which are currently mounted in the car.

B1: whats the fitment like on the 1000? I could sit in dads 4009HR but bones touching the side isn't ideal. Your probably about the same size as me.

Neo: I had a look at the size of yours on the racetech site and its 1cm less arse room than the one I tried so thats not a goer.

Distrb: epic indeed I had a look at t-clubs on some random sites and feck me they are heavy! Must be the metal.

Looks like the RT1000 has 20mm more width than the 4000HR that I tried so that might be ok.

Ive got SPARCO EVO IIIs in my race car. Your welcome to drop round and try them if you want to try them for size and no shops have them. Suggest what ever seats you try do it in your race suit as it does make a noticable difference.

Neil we should catch up some time soon. When are you taking the FX to manfeild next?

I like them, they are snug, but not as snug as Neo's ones, I dont think I fit in his drivers seat, And your flattering me, I'm much fatter than you

Also they seem to have a little more padding in them than other racetech seats, so seem a little more comfortable for longer distances.

Feel free to come and try them out if you want, I think they cost me about $1200ish with 2 sets of alloy brackets, i'll have to dig out the reciepts

Personally I love my Ractech 4000s, older set, unsure on the exact model. Very tight fit though and I'm a skinny bloke. Car is strictly no fatties allowed.

Cool cheers for the offer, im going to look at/try out an 2nd hand (barely used) racetech 100 on the weekend. From what I understand they are the same measurements as the 1000.

It should give me a better idea of fitment (edit: and if I like it I'll buy it). I really like the idea of racetech for quality, i just don't want to end up with an expensive seat that'll make me hate driving the car for 5 minutes.

Whats the story with needing a cert (another one).

I've heard that if you use the factory mounting points it doesn't require a cert, or is that if you use the factory rails (if even possible)?

I'd prefer a fixed position with the racetech brackets but depends on if I have to fork out for another cert.

See below it looks like if you mount to oe points your ok. But then the question is if you mount it to factory rails (weld or bolt) that mount to oe points is that alright. A friend ( fitter and turner by trade) mounted reclineable momos to factory rails but the wof guy said because he had welded / bolted the seats to the rails he still needed a cert.

Or mount it to MSNZ specs not using oe seat points and get an authority card.

One problem you might run into is if your seat belt is mounted to the seat and you have to move the mounting point.

The racetech 1000 is the same size as a 100W not a 100 , the 100 is the same width as a 4000. My vote would be get a 1000 , they are very comfortable , I have driven my race car to Taupo and been good after the trip

Bigdon: Cheers looks like I might be ok without a cert, but will have to clarify once I offer up the seat to the rails or mounting points.
