Blleding Break lines, For Caliper Paint

Postby Flunk » Sat Aug 23, 2008 1:32 pm

mmk.. so i have bled my brakes before, i know how to use the release valve etc..

My question is, whats the best way to do it, when i want to remove the caliper completely, so that i can clean them up and put caliper paint on?

Normally i bleed the lines, to change pads etc. but never fully disconnect the caliper, so am i correct in thinking its not going to matter how i bleed them, as long as i follow correct procedure to refill the brake fluid system, when i re-assemble?

some brake line clamps will make it alot easier, stops brake fluid from going everywhere while you have the caliper off, and makes it much faster to bleed when you put it back on.

bleed brakes starting at the caliper furtherest from the master cylinder (usually left rear)

Its no big deal. Just go round and bleed the brakes a few times untill the pedal feels nice.

Oh.. and dont bother with unbolting them. Just cover everything ya dont wanna paint with newspaper.

at the end of the day brakes get dirty fast- any attempt atgetting that area perfect is a waste tbh.

Degreaser and lots and lots of rags. Maybe even a toothbrush!

I got some callipers from the wreckers for an upgrade, was a mission and a half to get them clean to paint, but look good now.

What colour are you painting them? White, Red, or the Brembo Gold?
