Got a water leak coming from the back of the engine. too dark to see where its coming from now, but is there a hose or pipe that i should be looking for?(or pipe that commonly fails?)

speedo stopped working as well, likely to be just the speedo cable? or something else i need to check.

ecu gives me code 42

VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT--NO SPD. SIGNAL FOR SEVERLA SECONDS

WHILE VEHICLE IS OPERATED UNDER HEAVY LOAD (TPS/MAP/AIR FLOW INPUTS)

--SPEED SENSOR/CIRCUIT

--ECU

cheers

Yup, theres a pipe running along the back of the block, it has a short rubber joiner joining it to the waterpump

actually I think it comes out of the waterpump and does a loop and goes into the head or block as in the pic, but you can see the rubber joiner.
It was the 16v that had the pipes running along the back of the block.

Could be either, usually when the water pump packs it in water leaks out of a drain hole on the pump itself

well ive had another look, but cant see where its leaking, its only while engine is running but other than that i dont know
the main hose from the water pump looks alright and the leak seems to be coming from the bottom of the waterpump
has anyone replaced the waterpump in place? or will the engine need to come out?

I presume the front covers etc need to be removed to take the pump off?

Will take the alternator off so i can have a better look at the pump.

cheers

well, just removed the alternator and bracket and i can clearly see water coming out of the bung from the water pump.

Is this a fail safe for the pump?

has anyone replaced the pump whilst its in place? or will i need to pull engine?

cheers

I know it can be done with the engine in because my mechanic replaced mine, he did however say it was a bastard of a job lol

I think water leaks out of the hole in the bottem when the seal goes.

No need to pull the engine out.

Got to pull off the timing belt and covers though, might aswell replace the timing belt and tensioner while you have it off
