best brand aftermarket twinpot ae101 rotors? prefer slotted

Postby slammed_integral » Thu Sep 04, 2008 10:53 pm

what is a good branded rotor i can get for my conversion? im after stock sizing just maybe slotted. no drills as im anti that. i believe the size of the rotors im after is 275mmx25mm but i may be wrong as im no ae101 expert.

so to recap, after a set of front rotors from the twinpot equiped levin/trueno, prefer slotted and a good brand.

any suggestions.

and yes i did a search, didnt really come up with much and my nets 56k so i dont have patience to go into all the member projects to find out

I got these from repco for my SW20 MR2. 'Znoelli' New Zealand brand I think.

They are slotted and dimpled. Not drilled so they are less likely to crack. You can just get slotted if you prefer. Not sure if you can get them for AE101s though.

slotted rotors are pretty damn pricey, use different pads and run std type discs, to get great stopping power you either need to chew up pads or discs, and i wouldn't want to be replacing slotted rotors every 12 months

Who stocks Znoelli?

And just to clarify, by ae101 twinpots we mean ae101 superstrut rotors right?

Ripco stock them, they also sell them on Trademe or you can buy them directly off their site http://www.znoelli.co.nz/
However they don't appear to do them for Corolla's.

Dont think they do them for superstrut, pretty sure they do conventional 20v ones

my thought exactly, do conventional 20v come with twinpots?

I notice they have a listing for 1.6 ae101 corolla 1991-1994
would this be superstrut? (my thinking being that 1.6 = 4age=fxgt=superstrut right?)

But I also notice that those rotors have the same part number as the 20v rotors.

and I also recall reading somewhere that corolla's had a different ss set up to levin/truenos...

thus making this whole post pointless.

Traditional 20v's have single pot calipers & I believe the discs are slightly smaller on these than superstrut ones.

There was a post awhile back with the difference between ss & normal fxgt/levin/trueno brakes

The twin pot S/S ones are 275mm Diameter and the single pot jobbies are 255mm by the looks.

That's using the size of the rotor on my AE101 GT-Z (Superstrut and twin pot calipers)

Yup 275 for S/S and S/C AE101 and S/S 111. Did a quick measure of AE111 non-s/s and look to be around 250-255

Its hard to find the superstrut dics!!!!

People say they stock them, then when they get them they are the normal 20v ones. I dont think DBA do s/s ones. Guys in aussie coulndt get any and they are made in aussy.

Most people end up buying OEM toyota ones. Or you buy I think celica GT4 (ST185 maybe) ones, which have the same off set, machine them down from 278mm to 275m, get the 4 holes drilled as they are 5 stud.

I'd also be interested in some aftermarket superstrut rotors, those Znoelli look very nice. How much are they roughly for that spec?

If anyone comes up with any other options I'd be very interested, has any one emailed Znoelli directly to see if their manufacturer actually produces them and they maybe arent listed in NZ?

Its easy enough to machine down celica ones a couple of mm but I'd imagine rerdilling them would cost a bit wouldnt it?

dba's s/s rotor is for the ae111's, to make it fit the centre needs to be machined out from 54 - 55mm. This is what I used for my conversion ages ago.

The part # should be in Oscar at Repco, as I updated these details years ago when I was there :)

Just looking at the DBA Australia site, and seen the Celica ST204 (any) uses

DBA747

diameter: 275mm
height: 49mm
thickness: 28mm
centre hole:55mm
bolt holes: 5

So if the height/thickness is OK then all that needs to be done is to redrill them to 4 (going on info provided here, I'm yet to measure mine up).
