Where to get cert in Aucks?

Postby 1e-pwr » Mon Sep 22, 2008 10:10 pm

OK, so finally got my car going and need to get it certified, anyone able to recommend someone in Aucks? Would prefer engineer to nit-picker, being good to deal with also more important than price...

we've done a few certs through john brett at work, hes not too bad. bit of a funny wee fella but yeah :D the certs we've done have mostly been for basic stuff like adjustables, and hes done a few camper van conversions. dunno what hes like if you have crazy engine conversions etc but certainly seems to know his stuff.

Quite glad you posted this site - going by what it says about enigne conversions, i dont necessarily need a cert for going to a 2JZ from a 1JZ based on 4.3 on http://www.lvvta.org.nz/stdEngine&Drive ... rsions.pdf

Need one fo the box. will get on to this in next few weeks.

If so - he's the guy I went through for my cert. VERY VERY good guy. Pretty onto it!!

You'll still need one as you're increasing capacity, and one of the conditions specified in 4.3 is "of the same or less capacity or power output."

Interesting to read the new exhaust noise and emissions rules. One annoying thing I notice is that vented catch cans are illegal unless you are motorsport affiliated...

I work with Mark's brother. Apparently he used to be into time trials and land speed records and that sorta shiz. Had a talk to him a while ago, seemed a good guy.

Freelance automotive in Henderson is quite good too, they did my cert. They build hotrods etc so know their stuff, and they've probably seen every crazy engine conversion you can think of, so doesn't seem to bother them.
