Cert for RCA's ???

I have 40 mm T3 RCA's on my AE86. My local WOF guy is failing
me because he thinks that my "lowering blocks might need certing".

Neither he, nor the VINZ guy that he asked, has any idea what RCA's
are for. I can't find anything from a quick look at the regs, that covers
RCA's, and I don't want to piss about taking them out at WOF time.

So, does anyone know for sure if they DO or DON'T need a cert ???

i think they can be as big as 2in but check on the website
toyota supra 1996 2jzgte t64 turbonetics
Was 300hp on 10psi with stock twins, hopefully on similar boost be around 400hp

Cert is required.

Lowering Blocks do not need cert up to 50mm but as you are aware the WOF guy your using has no idea what he is talking about and your RCA's are not Lowering Blocks!

They are already matt black, and I have already been to
another garage that says they have no problem in passing them :)

Some time in the future I will get the car certed, but just now i still
have quite a few small mods to complete, and I don't want to have
to get a re-cert in 3 months. This time round I will pull them out
to get a pass... next time I go elsewhere !!!

And if they do need certing (as said above), can someone direct
me to the appropriate section of the regs ??

Note 1 Definitions
Modify means to change a vehicle from its original state by altering, substituting, adding or removing a
structure, system, component, or equipment
, but does not include repair.
Repair means to restore a damaged or worn vehicle, its structure, systems, components or equipment to within safe tolerance of its condition when manufactured, including replacement with undamaged or new structures, systems, components or equipment.

If you see section 9-1-1 it is a table of mods that do not required Cert. All other mods require Cert.

It scares me that WOF issuers don't know thier shit!

I have so many cars come in that should not have been given a WOF at the last inspection. Most (not all) have VTNZ or VINZ WOF's on the screen!

its even more headshaking cause those same guys will fail cars for all kinds of retarded things that they shouldnt too.

Yeah VTNZ wofs are BS. When my mate bought his Celica it had a brand new VTNZ wof, with two bald tires, a stuffed front left wheel bearing and one of the spotlights didn't work.

same deal here. both front wheel bearings in the kp sounded like they had sand/rocks in them, went straight through. i changed them a few days later as it was dodgy..
old guys hearing was probably shot...
