New car idea :D

Postby true?no » Mon Sep 29, 2008 5:56 pm

Now i no this is a toyota page and i myself am a Toyota fan, but i really like evo 4's for some reason and toyota have nothing similar, and their selection of turbo cars are limited compaird to dirty subaru etc etc, just wanted some feedback on them evo's, how realiable they are etc as i have heard very little about them, hopfully the price tag resembles realiablility :D

Cheers guys

Evo 4's are ok, their main issue they have is the AYC crapping out. They're substantially tougher both engine and gearbox wise than a similar vintage WRX unfortunately.

why bother when you can get an evo7 for not all that much more. Or an ST205 for a whole lot less!! :D
(although I am quite partial to the looks of evo 4s myself  )

Yea dont bother going for a 4 man just hold out a bit longer and get a 5. Better brakes, more flaring, in fact just that little bit better all round.

well my favorite evos would have to be the 5 , 6 and 8

too many people have the 4s these days, half of them a lil muppets thinking there the 'shiz' and turning them into horrible looking things

keep the exterior standard with nice rims and suspension, few engine mods to give it some more grunt, now that = nice! 8)

yeah, after wieghing it all up, doing weeks of research and talking to evo nuts, I found that the 4 is the least desirable by evo enthusiasts. Apparently the gizzmos the 4 introduced were a bit iffy, and they sussed it all in the 5

I thought the 3 looked coolest but not so much now cause all the mock evo 3/lancers and evo 3 front bumpers on all most everything.

Just get the latest one you can afford except the 4 IMO

and maintain it well, i saw one the other day with a hole in the side of the transfer case and a $&#$% rear diff, the trade price for the diff and the transfer case and then labour would have bought an st205

IV's have the worst power-weight of the range I think. Get a 3 (hah good luck finding one) or a 5.

plus the clutch design on the evo4 results in a required engine rebuild due to the crank moving back and forward sometime after 100k
