3TGTE turbo upgrade

Postby RS13 » Tue Sep 30, 2008 4:54 pm

Hi guys,

Carrying on from the other thread, we're looking to upgrade the standard turbo on a 3TGTE.

What we'd like to know;

What bolt-on options we have from other Toyotas (GT4, etc),

We've been told the standard ECU and airflow meter can handle considerable power, however the limiting factor is the injectors, what are our options for decent upgrades? If we were to fit larger injectors, what modifications would we need to do to the factory ECU?

Lastly, as we'd like to intercool the engine, without cutting any holes anywhere, we were looking at adapting perhaps a Subaru or GT4 water-to-air intercooler to fit. Has anyone had much luck with fitting these to other engines, and what's involved?

Cheers. :)

Blitz do a turbo kit ( as seen on my car ) ive gone hole hog but it might be possible to run less boost or a smaller unit from the same turbo kits ( based for ST205 but can easy fit )..

comes with adapter, oil drains and feeds etc i think.

As for IC i have a ST205 WTA for sale with Heat Exchanger im looking to move on now i know my other one dont leak etc and i dont need a spare.

The options are as wide as your pocket goes deep for options.. Weigh that up first then work on that ( plus about 35% in $$ saftey numbers for the hidden costs.)..

You realise I said 3TGTE, not 3SGTE? How much are you looking at for to WTA?

Lol, sweet as.

Not looking too easy at the moment anyway, such a large motor in a small car means very little room for larger anything!
