Power to Accesories??

Postby Adoom » Sun Oct 05, 2008 11:20 am

I just bought an AE82 Jap spec fxgt as a run around.
It was a bluetop and it has had a redtop put in. The guy who did it has done something weird with the wiring that I havnt been able to figure out yet. He has used the redtop engine loom and the original body loom and spliced them together after a fashion. Everything works but the accesories seem to be live all the time....like the handbrake light is on with the keys out of the ignition. Does anyone have a wiring diagram online so I can see what should be live and where power is supposed to come from etc...
Am I right in guessing that the handbrake light should turn off when I take the keys out???
Its raining today so I cant be arsed looking at it in the wet.

oh yeh. I bought it.
I fixed the lights, it was just a matter of soldering the wires.....
I can't figure out where the acc circuit is getting power from though......

My guess from a power source meant to be going to the igniton switch, maybe it's been tapped into for a power supply
I did a similar thing to my ae92 running ae92 n/a loom and engine and splicing into the orig ae92 sc loom. i used an adaptor though which i made up. I have an ae82 manual but the wiring differs a bit. best i can suggest,(as it's not easy to scan my manual) is maybe search online. Theres bound to be something available you can download.

I have borrowed an ae82 manual from pc. I'll look at it again when the weather stops being wet or when I get really really bored.

Sorted.
After 3 hours of tracing and isolating circuits, I found out the acc circuit had been spliced into the hazard/horn circuit as well as its normal power supply. I just cut the wire and everything works!!!
I bought some new tires this morning and got a wof this arvo and a rego at 4:30.
All I had to do for the wof was wire brush back some rust on the A pillar to show there were no holes.
