~1990-1995ish Hilux Utes

How common are Hilux utes in 4wd? Are most of them rear wheel drive?
Thinking about selling the Caldina and get a 4wd hilux ute and raise the crap of it and put a 1UZ into it. Want to play in the mud and not worry about tidyness and having to go slow over bumps etc anymore

Seriously, they are pretty common, but also fairly expensive compared with a surf etc of the same year. Get a surf with removable canopy

That could be an option too I suppose. I'll look into them.
My budget would be whatever I get for the Caldina. Don't want to spend anymore than that. Less would be a bonus.

Yeah, I've been looking into a tow vehicle for myself, and that was the road I was looking down. They tend to have pretty high K's on the Hilux Ute's too.

Plus a surf has extra seats, and you can do shopping with it without somebody deciding to lift the cover and help themselves.

Has many advantages, just doesn't provide the same room for hauling stuff in it. I had been looking at the 3.0 turbo diesel 1KZ-TE powered version. Been told to keep away from the V6's. Mate's dad and another mate's dad both had the heads blow on them. Like clockwork.

if you want to put a V8 in one, buy a V6

the LN106/7 retain their value quite well

take a surf for a ride, then take a hilux ute for a ride, you'll discover that coil over rear, and Independant front suspension are the key ingrediants for Ride Comfort.

4wd hilux utes hold their value something crazy.

Buy my JZN130 surf, and if you feel the need to run larger tyres (comes with 31 10.5 mud terrains) do a body lift then fit 33 to it.

I just brought an old ln61 surf for a bit of fourwheel driving and towing the bike and stuff like that. Its only a 2lt so it aint no race horse but still seems to go ok in the mud and rougher stuff. Was super cheap to so not such a drama when you it gets a bit bashed up. Then newer surfs do drive a bit nicer and are more comfy though
