Unfortunatly the panelbeater's already been quoted $995 for the standard nudge bar bumper - which isn't too bad but doesnt give us much room to play

sportivo is a toyota word..... but tbh i dont recall it being used in association with caldinas. if there is no numbers or names on it then it's definitely not a toyota item.
if it is it will be a JDM accessory. in which case IF you can still get them, it will be mega $$$. well more than $995.

regular user's CAN post in the sponsors section.....
by "exclusive use" it means for the purpose of advertising their products. you are more than welcome to use it to ask what they can do for caldinas

Yeah I seem to only be able to find them on Camry's - why I ask.....WHYYYYY :P

Yeah there's a TRD one that's $1300NZD + shipping new from toyota japan - OUCH!

The bumper looks like it belongs and we've seen at least 3 seperate other Caldina's around with the exact same one which seems a bit odd if its a "hack job"

The kit just bolts onto the front of the standard bumper - its just like a lip really.....

Right - bit of an update on this

We STILL have no bloody front bumper. Driving around for almost 2 months now without one. The can't repair the broken one, and can’t find where to get one. The panel beaters have given up trying so we're now trying to get hold of the accessor to get permission to order one from another crowd. PITA!

As for the guy who smacked into us - he's getting away SCOT FREE! seriously - no ticket for running the red, no dangerous driving - NOTHING

Because I jumped out of the car - opened his door and punched him, in the arm, causing no damage to him or even pain, if I push for him to be prosecuted, he will push for assault!!!

WHAT THE F!!!

So because I'm not going to be done for assault from a little "tap" as it's not worth it - he's getting away - with NOTHING. The cops said "oh yeah but he has had to pay for insurance excess etc - SO WHAT??? insurance isn't a police matter - the fact that he ran a red light and KNEW it was red IS a police matter.

At this point the useless cop was adamant that he wasn't getting a ticket so I started getting mad

I hung up the phone before I started saying F to her, rather than just in sentences.

I called the police back - couldn't get through to her - so I left a note with someone else saying that it's not fair that he gets away with NOTHING for what he did - especially the fact that he's caused us 2 months of grief and then they try and do me for assault from a harmless "tap"

And THEN she tries to tell me it’s the government’s fault that the NZ police are so slack!!! Grrrrrr

So now we’re back to square one – no bumper and no ticket or anything for the other guy – who has probably got his car fixed and is back to normal life. FFS

I was thinking of this just the other day. Saw your car parked on Greys Ave in town with no bumper and was like "fark still not sorted"

I reckon try f-ing hard to get sorted with another suppleir and maybe get one of those ducks garden ones.

In saying that there are plenty of caldina's on TM with the bumper like yours, I am pretty sure it is the bumper for the Active Sports GTT model or something. Have seen them on the Japanese auctions too.

So you might wanna try a wrecker? I have had some reasonable quotes for a rear bumper at 280, although front end parts seem to retail significantly higher due to the demand.

is this one the same?

I know right! If I know I was going to be done for assault I would've at least smacked him round a bit. The ONLY reason I didn't actually punch him properly was so I wouldn't get done for assault

Why did I lean in the window and punch him in the arm?

because I was furious at the fact that he ran the redlight, smashing up the front of our car (lucky I didn't go exactly when our light was green and I was a bit delayed or he would've hit my partners door square on at 60kmph).

AND the fact that he knew he had run the red light - he sped up to get through, as stated by the witness

If I'd know I was going to be done for assault and him get away with NOTHING, I would've beaten the sh1t out of him - get my "money's worth"

Nah - not going to injure or hurt him in any way. He's paid a bit of money for excess n all that - but it would be nice if his car windows got broken, all of them.....not that I would do that!........

Re breaking windows...

I'm pretty sure no excess on broken windows only applies to windscreens, so don't bother breaking those, just the side ones, insurance would fix the windscreens for free so no point

1 free per year generally....

Plus I'm pretty sure the back window would cost a bit.....

Fair enough.

Why doesn't your partner seek criminal charges? If she was in the car at the time, I would at least ask about it. Think about it, if I'm standing on the side of the road, and witness someone doing a burnout, I can make a formal complaint to police, and get that person charged, as long as I'm prepared to attend court and prove it with facts.

Hows' that any different to being inside the car involved in the accident?

Because the other person is not the polices "target audience" (read boyracer)

You shouldn't have struck him full stop? Maybe you should have just screamed obsenities, but touching someone innapropriately is always going to be grounds for some sort of charge.

Any witnesses to the assault? If not its only your word against his... you have the higher ground.
