Beg, Borrow, Steal? ST205 ECU

Postby benj » Mon Oct 20, 2008 4:00 pm

Howdy,

I'm trying to trace a code 54 problem on my ST205. I've checked all the usual suspects and then some, and have narrowed it down to a few possibilities which includes an ECU fault.

If anyone has one spare they could let me use to test that theory I'd be grateful

Cheers

Ben

code 54 - isnt that the water pump for the WTA , or something related to that .. Water level , pump not working , or something to do with the WTA sensors

Youll throw this code , if youve swapped to a front mount also - and havent either bypassed the sensor with a Diode mod , or used an aftemarket ECU that doesnt worry about WTA ( like a link , PFC etc )

Yes, it's either a pump problem or a water level sensor problem.

My sensor is fine, my pump runs fine, all the wiring on the loom back to the ECU continuity is fine, pump relay is fine, plugs from loom to sensor and pump are fine, ECU plugs are fine, resistance across the pump is fine.

I've pulled the bushes out of the pump, and blown out all the dust and crap, and they were fine. My last two checks are the ECU, hence the request, and removing the pump from the car and completely stripping it to check for sludge in the impeller, or a bearing problem.

ECU is easier, so I want to try that first.

Cheers

Which is exactly what I'm looking for! yay!

I have had an offer to borrow one, but its a member who's rebuilding a GT4 and I don;t want to be in a position where I break it and screw up his build, so the best situation is where it's sitting around spare, and I can test it and buy it if it fixes the problem!

So if you're ok with a loan to start with I can flick you some money to ship it up, then if it fixes the issue we can sort out a price?

Cheers
