Megameet Cryptic Rally

Postby Distrb » Thu Oct 16, 2008 7:25 pm

When:Sunday 26 October, 4pm

Starting at: Camp Elsdon - http://www.campelsdon.co.nz/
18 Raiha Street ,
Elsdon,
Porirua

Format: Split into even teams, 1 team per car, solve clues provided and grab items from around wellington faster and more accurately than all other teams!

What to bring: Everyone will need a pen and a cell phone. I would suggest a map of Wellington would be helpful also.

One of the more fun events we'll be running!
AngelTwin is the one running this event! so mad props to her!

hope to see you all there!

You'll be split up however you choose to be! 8) We won't be picking the teams for you - just turn up and organize a ride!

We picked the camp as the base, so it's a safe place to leave cars if people want to go on the rally with someone else.

I've set up the questions in Wellington City and the surrounding suburbs.

I ran a very similar event for Harbour Capital Car Club a couple of years ago and it was rather successful! I don't think anyone got lost and I don't think there were many (if any) un-answered questions, so it should be a lot of fun! :)

Are there any specific rules regarding the use of equipment? Ie Laptop/T3G?

The rules will be outlined at the event briefing and I will be awarding bonus points for more detail in answers, etc...

You can be as resourceful as you wish, but that's not to say that we won't have spies out there making sure you aren't just parked up surfing the net for your answers...

The whole point is to get out and drive around and have some fun, so you would be cheating yourself out of some fun if you did so anyway... :P

We went out last night and sorted the questions etc for this, thanks to my work for the fuel used to find the answers

I think its gonna be a hoot, Most questions/answers are based around Wellington sights, just to give some of the out of towners a little taste of Wellington and hopefully make them want to return

A lot of the questions require you to get out of the car too, so just be warned that you will probably want to bring a jacket because the weather is looking a little iffy...

This is also why it works best if you are in a "team", so one person can be running for answers while the another is still in the car (in case you can't park anywhere safely, etc...)

For sure! We came up with tonnes of questions, but couldn't really use all of them or it would go on for too long! Hopefully we've got it under two hours...
