Congrats Barry :D

I was there with the boys - we were the insane ones in the stands in the wind!!

Superlap wasn't too bad, though we were expecting some more hypo cars, but the competitors turnout was good and the spectator turnout was abysmal :(

Not quite sure what you define "hypo" cars as, there were a lot of very very well tuned cars there. I am not familiar with what a good lap time on that layout would normally be is but I know quite a few sharp drivers with very nicely modified cars that were in the 1:21s bracket - I suspect the level is much higher than at least the first superlap.

As far as spectator events go it was pretty crap tbh.

Group of us were talking to the presenter from performance car TV - he pretty much said the event was for the drivers, not the spectators. How short sighted is that? Run well one of these events has the potential to pull in big crowds, big money and big interest in the field. Having the bloody start time and cost for spectators on the events website would be a good place to begin!

To be honest Super-lap is never ever going to be a big spectator event its for the drivers really.I mean its hard to get a good gage of speed when your on the sidelines and I don't no if passengers are allowed so its not a great spectacle if they allowed more dual-car sprint style of format then you might get a better gage of the speed of cars and how different people are when someones up there date.

an MRS on Semi slicks can go high 1:19's around there with a good driver, with that new chicane layout i cant see it adding more than a second or so?

The new layout has added near 3s!
Both chicanes are now tighter I was told by drivers who did the last superlap there

The evos of Ian Cambell and Dirk were doing 1.14s at the first superlap.
They now are doing 1.17s.

Its kinda annoying how they change the layout all the time, as people cant gage how fast they are compared to others. As no one has any idea on which layout they have just done lol.

the new track is about 1-1.5 seconds slower than the one we ran last time, the temp on the day seemed to be the limiting factor as most peoples times dropped off further in the arvo as temps dropped.

I think you did astonishing well to beat Dirk and Ian on a track that should have massively favoured a 4wd platform and from what i saw of your entry and exit from turn 1(in the shootout) which i estimated cost you at least a full second, they were lucky to be anywhere near your final time..........well done Barry

Don't get any faster or i'll have to have you killed........
