i know with the turbo on my old trueno, when i had the old rooted one it made 180kw@20psi, and seemed to be fine, if little noisy, but boost curves were as expected etc.

when that died due to a boost leak i swapped in a new turbo exactly the same, and a new intercooler, those were the only changes i made and jumped nearly 40kw on the same dyno, and required a shitload more fuelling added into the tune.

my guess is the newer turbo was a lot more efficient and moving a lot more air. the tuner did say that at 180kw it didnt seem to be making the power it should and he couldnt figure out why.

You don't think the boost leak had anything to do with it?

oil and filters etc are changed/cleaned every 5000kms.

Running a linkplus, guys from nzefi didnt notice anything out of the ordinary.
Same fuel, same tune and ratios etc

Both runs were done on the same dyno eh? Though I guess the drop in trap speeds kinda backs it up.

the boost leak killed the turbo in the end but wasn't there when dyno tuning was done. that was due to a slipped i/c pipe at the track. that turbo had always been a bit noisy though, and the only inkling of anything being wrong was the occasional hesitation of during spool around 7-8psi.

all 4 cylinders were identical with the compression test.

Couple of sparkplugs were loose as well, not good..
put it back together and drove round for a bit, parked up to watch some fireworks with some mates.
After that, get back in the car, back out of the driveway and the car dies..
Turns over but doesnt fire, no obvious things unplugged with the leads/igniter etc. doesnt appear to be any spark. :x

Not fun being stranded 1/2 hour out of town in the farkin freezing rain 5 hours before work lol

Has spark, lack of Fuel is the issue.
Had it checked out, Injector drives on the ecu arent working.
Is this a major? or is it a case of unplugging it and sending it to link or whereever to get fixed relatively simply.

im just relieved it isnt the engine, Labour intensive jobs make me cry

Yep, unplug it and send it, they ought to fix it up pretty quickly. Weird though, were all the drives not going?

have you got the ability to download the program to a computer?
have you got a laptop and a cable?

who set the trigger thresholds in the ecu? NZEFI?

Yup have the gear to hook it up to the laptop and Yeah, nzefi did it all,

if it were settings on it, it would be odd for them to change after 18 months or so ?

No but if the cranking speed was down a bit, and the trigger points were set to high it may cause a problem,
But I am sure NZEFI will have set them correctly as they are the same sensor setup as the 20V dist's and a lot of other toyota's that they have done.
