The first gen bB's did come out with a manual transmission, unfortuantely though, that was only in America  (Scion xB). The missus and I have had our bB's for a couple of months now and as a daily runabout, I think they're awesome, but as had been said, not a performance car. Mine has been done a little over the top, mod's wise, but it is now a mean traffic light warrior

Was never a fan of the look of the Will Vs, but that red one is almost changing my mind 8O.

another idea is the Yaris 'RS' 1.8l 6 speed manual out of Corolla and light weight body can't go wrong

short shifter, 17 inch rims body kit and great handling makes for a fun little package plus great fuel consumption check it out

Thanks for the suggestion, but we really need a mid size car to transport gear in if we can't take the caldina. I feel the yaris may be a bit small, although I do like them!

If you were still keen on getting her into a bB, jump on Yahoo Japan and check out all the bits you can get to jazz up the interior, might be something there that changes her mind  Not my kind of thing, but she might like the Louis Vuitton look dash & door trims/covers/pieces/inserts...or a nice set of curtains
