If they wanted to take you to court, yep, you'd probably lose. It is indeed a binding contract. I was at a trademe regulations group meeting for my work recently, and they mentioned there that winning an auction was a binding contract.

If you could get details on the seller, there's tons of TS'ers in the Wellington / Hutt areas.

Usually going back through their old auctions (via their feedback page) turns you up a number plate, or phone number in the photo's or questions.

Leon, rollaholic has stated that he knows the guys name, phone # & address.
Why not pm the guy's info discreetly to a few of us in the Hutt to see if we know the guy and can sound him out for you. He might have fallen off a ladder or under a bus or something.

even jasmyn3 says my parts are on the way, am more sceptical about that one to be honest.

I finally got an email too that says the same, but time will tell,
although I did manage to track down an address for that one too.

Well I did not bid on the auction as someone else had, and it closed in the AM, when I thought it was PM, so I was away at the track anyway.

But I got an email address of 2008accountant@live.com
and a address of 20 akaroa street kaiapoi,
but I cant seem to get a phone number out of it,
and cant find it listed in the whitepages or anything,
or else some phone calls will be made.

That address is registered in a company name so is possibly a rental which may explain the lack of telephone number.

It is possible that the company is related to the 2008accountant email address you have.
I will pm the company directors details to you to do with what you wish.

matt, i dunno how much you spent there but if you want to do something about it let me know - i would be keen to get involved as this kind of nonsense really angers me, even though i only gave her $50 odd bucks.

on a side note, it sounds like i might actually get those pistons out of the other guy.

Was not a lot, but that's not the point,

Am in a similar situation, bought some ae82 corolla gt (nz new) parts from a guy on trademe, in August, twice now they have been 'returned to sender' apparently, I have hit him up last week and this week, but no luck yet. Have had plenty of correspondence with him too.

trademe is rapidly turning into a passenger on the failboat, i've never had so much trouble with $&#$% off there as i have in the last couple of months.

that plus their newly exorbitant pricing (like it wasnt bad enough before) has me looking for alternatives.

unfortunately it seems pretty much here to stay, to the point where its name has gotten to be like coke or sellotape - a brand name used as a catch all.
