TWICE. albeit with factory parts, it still isnt "as factory". try a 462,000km(and counting) toyota corolla, origional motor and gearbox, only things changed are brakes, clutch and cvs. or our 300,000 2e carby rolla, same again. nothing has had to have been rebuilt. and both these cars get thrashed to sh*t.

I'm picking up a bias here... I wonder if some of the above are annoyed that the Subarus are quite fast, and justifying why they haven't got one?

Why would I care if Subarus are fast? If I wanted one, I would buy one but as I stated above, the one I had was a POS, so wouldnt touch another with a barge pole.

i remember a comment a friend made to the guy rebuilding his 206kw legacy motor.

"do the bearings fail because they are too small?"

rebuilder: its not that the bearings are too small, its just that they arent big enough.

im sorry, but reliability and subaru dont go together, run bearings on a sub 100000km car?

I have always said any motor where the piston is to lazy to stand up needs to be looked at carefully

Ive known many a POS toyota as well but I would still buy one, You have to base each car on its merits, regardless of manufacturer

Or it could be saying something about the driving ability of the average crazy skinhead.....

As for the Subaru debate. I've heard of people having trouble with them and heard of others never having to touch a thing. I'd say, like rotaries, they need to be maintained fastidiously which is something the average owner never pays much attention to. Most of the people here that are praising their Subarus seem to be the ones that looked after them well which should say something.

If Ferrari's cost $9k they'd probably be flagged as being rubbish as well because the people that bought them didn't give them the treatment they need to keep going well....

Also not turbo. But 501,000KM is impressive in any car. Just shows anycar properly maintained can do anything.
Brute force and ignorance always prevails.

Failure comes from too little brute force, or too little ignorance.
