I could see the attraction this with twin turbos, or a supercharger bolted on, would be great fun then! But on its own? No thanks.

the 3VZFE is actually a pretty well built engine it just has some design flaws that would need addressing. They have a forged crank and 4 bolt mains. With some prepping - ie cams, head porting etc, they'd be quite a rev happy beast

I could see more of an attraction with twin turbos AND a supercharger

Just put some wheels on an aircraft carrier and be done with it.

Although I'm not sure if they've got a 'midship' engine layout. Image

i reckon get a gearbox from something that has the box on the r/h side of the car, and a late model STI EJ20.
low compact engine for low CoG and engine weight on the left to off set the driver
