Anyone work at a Toyota Wrecker? Or Panelbeaters?

Postby xsspeed » Tue Dec 02, 2008 10:23 am

Anyone here work for a Toyota wrecker/or Panel beater in AKL?

Mrs pranged the Caldina this morning.

Parts needed: (ST215G in two/three tone black and grey)
RHS side skirt
LHS Wing mirror

Body Damage:
By the sounds of things she has put a small dent in the A pillar (not bent pillar just dented the outside), maybe a small bend in the door frame (by B-pillar)
Damage to the RHS sill where the side skirt was pulled off.
Will get some pics when I see it.
Can bring it around for an look if need be

Cheers
Steve

Out of curiosity, how did she manage to mash the left hand side, and the right hand skirt?

Think she turned into a driveway to do three point turn and blipped the throttle instead of brake by mistake and it shot forward, side skirt got caught on the curb and LHS got a whack from a branch.
Something like that anyway.

Yeah but excess is large as she is only on restricted. so trying to guage the cheaper option. From what she has told me everything is pretty minor anyway.

Must be a huge excess then, because from the look of that parts list and the description of the damage it's probably well over $2k to repair.

BTW I have all the parts, with the exception of the side skirt, from the same colour GT-T if you have no luck finding them in Auckland.

Yeah Pretty big excess,

Just had a look then, not too bad,

Needs a new LHS mirror and RHS skirt.

LHS A-pillar needs to be popped back out and the door frames over the LHS B-pillar are a little warped.
RHS Sill needs to be popped back also.

Gunna get some quotes on panel work, see what they come back with.

How much are you after for that mirror fivebob?

Took it to a panelbeater who has done good work for my family over the years, he reckoned 2k - most of it labour on the sill, it was worse than it looked.

So gunna go through insurance (excess 1200 ouch!) and get it all done properly, rather than leave bits undone.

This means the bumper and some panels will score a paint as well.

Don't worry bout the mirror fivebob, my panelbeater has sourced one already.

Except its her car. lol

TBH much better that she had a minor prang with a tree as a wake up call to be switched on at all times, rather than have a sh\tter of a car and try to "drift it yo" and wind up rolled on someones lawn.

Did you get the rest of the car "colour matched" as well?

haha nah they actually did a really good job of it, no orange peel and the colours were pretty bang on. i think they had a wheel stripped and repainted as well coz that got scuffed up too.
