Power Bar - where or how?

Where do I buy, or how do I go about making a power bar?

I am sick of f-ing with semi-seized bolts/nuts on the corolla, and sick of putting out my shoulder getting them off with the 1/2 inch drive socket wrench.

So where can I buy/how can I make a power bar. Pref buy cos I have no welding gear atm.

most socket sets come with a short one, hunt around till u find a piece of pipe that will slip over this and voila u have an extension:P

its not impossible, but pretty hard to build a bad powerbar, there isnt much to screw up.

you'd be surprised, my repco branded powerbar has been treated like $hite for a number of years in a commercial environment and subject to he pipe extension and is still going strong to this day

Weren't repco ones made by powerbuilt anyway though? I'd rate them as good quality for home use

possibly, i brought my whole set years ago when it was all Repco branded but yeah they did change from Repco branding to Powerbuilt so probably came off the same production line.

For home use they are perfectly fine, added bonus of replacement if it breaks too

OK seems I managed to get myself confused,

I was under the impression that a powerbar was significantly longer than the 450mm in that trademe auction.

I will be able to pick one up easily enough, now I know what I need.

We just use the handles off the jacks....just slide them over the little mini-bars that come with socket sets and ya done

have one at work, crank the shit outta stuff with it, exccelent bar, feels strong and reliable, unlike some of my bluepoint gear......wich is odd as its just cheap snapon get koken or snapon for warranty/blang factor/reliability. powerbuilt aint bad though

Repco and Powerbuilt tools are very different

Powerbuilt does a 2ft long powerbar, that ought to be enough to crack most stubborn nuts. Just wrap the handle in tape if you need to use a pipe extension

I recall a thread ageeeeeeeeeeeees ago that discussed this, but couldnt for the life of me remember the outcome, so cheers for the clarification, knew someone would know

You do have to be careful you don't have a cheap arse ratchet when you do this. I've spun the inside of so many ratchets this way back when I couldn't afford a decent kit. Now I have a big fuller socket set with one or a cheap torque wrench that I slide a 2M pipe over and use.

Only time this has failed is when the nut was rusted on and I forgot to use WD-40. Bolt came off too.
