Postby lee90 » Tue Dec 16, 2008 5:15 pm

HI guys

I am having a problem I need to know the answer by today need to get my WOF tomorrow or the day after PLease HELp me out.

my rear left hand side brake dusn't work on hand brake but it works when u brake..

one of the Mechanics told me to recondi the brake and it will cost me 220 for the fix and 120-100 to fit it.

I know there is a nother way to get is 2nd hand brake but is it a good way to do so?

sounds like the handbrake part is seized, a 2nd hand caliper may fix it, as long as it doesnt have the same problem
that price sounds a bit $$

well me and the Mechanic guy take a look it looks like all the lines are fine working just the caliper is having the problem. I just hope if i buy the 2nd hand one will fix the problem....
other wise will waste alot of money in it.

Take it into a brake specialist. Not someone like Midas but a company that just does brakes.

I had problems with rear calipers being uneven, so took the calipers off and got them 'serviced' by a brake specialist. I had a seizing problem too, and it fixed it for like $40 or something for both calipers.

Fix what you have IMO, don't get a quick fix by buying 2nd hand which could be just as bad.

Yeah my wording was wrong, I just meant get your current brakes fixed rather than getting 2nd hand stuff. At least you know the history that way 8)
