Higher quality parts such as? Titaniuam wheel turbos, brembo brakes, front, rear and center LSD's, 17x8 enkei wheels, adjustable spoilers, front mounted intercooler, intercooler sprayers can all be found on the evo......as well as being a much faster car...mitsi put some thought into designing their flagship car - and they got the results to silence the critics too.
An EVO4 dash is a crappy plasticy horrible thing. The doors are tinny. The door trim is cheap fabric and hard plastic.
It's a road going version of a rally car.....it's not supposed to be a comfort barge
so it has a plastic dash and the doors aren't full of sound deadening - if you wanted a quiet/comfortable family car why would you be shopping for an evo? horses for courses fellas. oh and the alcantara used on the seats and door trims is hardly a cheap fabric
neither is that all leather momo airbag wheel....or the recaro bucket seats with matching rear seats. digital climate control, twin airbags etc........the interior of an evo 4/5/6 isn't such a bad place to be really
You sit high on the seats and it doesn't feel like it was designed as a driver car, more as a vehicle to suit soccer moms.
evo's characteristically have a pretty low seating position. mostly to do with *those* seats...
The ST205 has a much classier interior that envelops the driver. The doors are solid. It doesn't squeak and rattle.
The ST205 is also heavier and slower....that's the price paid for being "classy" I suppose

Putting a grunty engine in does not suddenly make it a superior car to a ST205. Sure it may be faster, but it does so without any class.
If you want class buy a celsior......these are primarily (road going) rally cars and people buy them because they want to go fast not because they want to be "classy". if an evo is nothing more than mum's lancer with a bodykit and a grunty motor........how is the st205 any different? isn't it then just mum's shopping cart st202 with a bodykit and grunty motor?
WRX's and EVO's shouldn't be compared to the ST205 any more than you should compare a Ford Laser turbo to a ST165 (as was done by Aussie magazines back in the day).
You're right......$20,000 cars should not be compared to $7,000 cars - regardless of how classy their interiors may be.
Don't even get me started on how both the EVO and WRX were "styled" by 14 year olds...
i'll agree here. evo's are ugly. but then again celicas aren't going to win any beauty contests either. or rallies for that matter.
don't get me wrong i'm no evo fan. nor am i a celica fan. i don't ever aspire to own either of the two - but i've gotta give credit where it's due.
