Um, I'll just rattle off some of the information I know and hope it helps you. (Keep in mind that some of it could be wrong, I know a lot more about MKIV's)

MA70's were the original MKIII supra body's, then the JZA70 came out a bit later, which was the 'widebody' version of it.

MA70's came with either the 7M-GE (/GTE??) or the 1G-GE/1G-GTE (I think so, though don't know if I'm even close. The JZA70's came with the new 1JZ-GE/1JZ-GTE.

So if you could, I'd definetly go with the JZA70, but if you're set on the MA70, go for it.

Tip 1: Buy a 'daily' that actually goes

I'm sure someone has their cheap daily for sale on toyspeed, check out the for sale section :)

^^ That's definetly the best idea though, get one that already works.

GA70's and MA70's came out widebody too.
Try to get a '89+ model to avoid rust. Preferably a JZA70 but they do hold their value a bit more. The 7MGTE is a good motor but it does have it's problems which I'm sure someone more learned (or a search) will tell you about.

Ford Seems to be the best daily.. Ive had mine for 7 months + now.. passed its first WOF with some minor work.. leaks some oil in traces but a top up of oil and replacment windscreen wipers &front pipe to meet WOF needs and its going strong, gets me to work does the trick..

Cost to date inclusive of repairs around $1500 over 7 months.. everything but petrol ( this includes head unit )

buy a daily that wont tempt you to fiddle with it, thus leaving your money free to go to actual project!

1st supra = bag of trouble waiting to happen and an expensive option

2nd supra = way overpriced for an automatic 1g

3rd supra = stupidly way overpriced for a piece of crap pre facelift with a 1jz conversion

Trust me, things you want in a daily driver (reliability, economical, comfortable to drive, being able to park places and not worry about it getting dented/scratched/stolen etc)... none of these things come with a supra.

AE92 GTZ Levin would be my pick for a daily.
