Couple questions....

Postby FST4RD » Sun Jan 11, 2009 9:03 pm

I have a 2 channel amp at the moment running the sub and it does a pretty decent job....
I now want to buy a 4 channel amp to run the front and rear speakers inside the car.
At the moment I'm running a cheap sony explode head unit with 1 x rca output and going to upgrade.
Question is do I need to get a head unit with 3 x rca outputs or can I get one with 2 x rca's and run the rear speaker rca's and then split them to run the sub amp and to the 4 channel amp for the rear speakers? Is that ok to do that?

Also anyone have any idea the factory front speaker size for a 1992 Mazda familia sedan with wind up windows (if that matters)?

Your amp should have an output RCA, just run a RCA from one amp to the other?

you need a headunit with 3 sets of pre outs with front pre outs rear pre outs and sub out the front and rear pre outs goto the 4 ch amp for the speakers and the sub pre out going to the 2 ch for the sub

Depends how fancy you want to get..

The other way you could do it (to saving replacing headunit) is buy a 4 channel amp with RCA output on it.

Then you just piggy back the 2 channel off the 4 channel amp and go roll the streets

by one rca, I assume you mean one pair of rca's.

Just get a splitter, and adjust the gains to suit. After-all, that is what they are there for.

you can quite happily run on all 3 ways.

1 set "with rear output" just use millions of Y splitters :P

2 set "front and rear/sub" leave the headunit on rear output and Y split to the sub and rear channels.

Oh sweet :)
I wanted to do it this way, front rca output to the 4 channel amp, rear rca output split into 2 and then into the 4 channel amp and the sub amp :D

Good to know you can

or if your 4 channel has high input you can wire the speaker outs of the head deck to it, and then leave your current sub set up useing the rcas
