How many classic honda's are out there? I see ke's regularly and the like... but the only old hondas i see are usually in the kfc drive through.

ive only ever seen it once tho, he normally drives his S2000 :evil:

Honda never made a B18CR the type R integra engine for a DC2 is B18C5, integra VTiR or SIR will be a b18C1 or B18C2.

If you realy want to turn this ino a bitchfest then why not add in your SR20VVE or SR16VVE into this question as well. Played with them all & at the end of the day if you chasing max power it desn't make $&#$% all difference with regards to power/reliability what you've got.

Hahahhah aside from your entire post having absolutely nothing to do with the topic aside from the fact it contained the word "Hondas" - its obviously a one eyed post. I know a lot of people who hold the exact same view of people flocking to Toyotas, personally I thnk its equal. There are munters everywhere going for all sorts of types of cars.

I *love* the EB generation Honda Civics from the 1970's.

They are the most fun you can have in a car with your pants on 8) Also, they are so tiny, you can touch basically every part of the inside of the car while in the drivers seat.

I autocrossed my friends one (1100cc two speed auto), and was bracing myself on the Jesus handle on the other side of the car (rock hard and flat seats meant you slide off the seat around right hand corners).

Perhaps i wasnt clear... let me guide you to my point: What im saying is that i see heaps of old toyotas still running - reliability. I have not seen any old hondas recently so my question was: are there no old hondas because they are all rusted wrecks, because they are un desirable, because no one wants one, or simply because there are not many on the north shore of auckland?

Well i can only speak for where i live, but i see i pile of wanaba gansta's in hondas regularly... in fact it seems like every modded honda i see is draggin it arse along the road with phat chromies. And while i do see munters in toyotas from time to time, i would hardly say its the norm.

Honda's are, without a doubt, amazing cars. They are not "ricey" or "le ghey" or whatever whaterver *hate hate*. By the same token, Toyota are also amazing cars. MOST cars are in their respective rights.... disregard {insert korean car brand name here}.

The point is, asking a question about which is better is pointless, some guys like heineken, others like corona (wankwank ... sorry).

Anyways, sorry for dragging this tired old horse out again, just wanted to start a convo so I could get to the real point... wow this is turning into an essay.

ANYWAY, the real point I'm making is ... What is everybody's thoughts on the 2zz-ge engine compared to the b18cr engine??

Wicked little cars. They drive like a Mini (super nimble), but without the Lucas (prince of darkness) electrics.

Yeah i have seen a few... but normally they were stock standard. Did honda not have much of a new zealand presence in the 70's?

I find that matches the stereotype of the 'cruise scene' :lol: I'll stick with the legal racing scene I think, as I've not seen anyone bottled at a race meeting. :lol:

And to the thread starter, why didn't you just start off with the title of "2zz vs B18c"? You obviously just wanted to start off the usual pointless arguement.

If you ask me, the vtec's are basically a 4age with more race orientated cams. Put similar race cams into a blacktop on a 7a block and you have a B18c :P

What ever floats your boat.

you came on a toyota site asking whether the people that frequent it would rather a honda engine over what is arguably one of toyota's best engines ever? :lol:

I'd go with the b16a. but it can't beat the sound of the 4age IMO (16v ones anyway)

Toyotas out numbered pretty much everything in the 80s, the way I remembered - it felt like everywhere I looked there were white Corollas, I remember that from many a road trip where we would play a game where we had to call the colour and type of oncoming cars first. Strange that there aren't masses of white K and A-series Corollas on the streets of NZ in hindsight.

That question bares no relevance anyway, the motors in question came along from 89 onwards so if a 70s Honda did or didn't rust away (and face it, all pre-90s Hondas pretty much corroded given half a chance) bares no relation on a car running a completely different design and running gear.

Right, with you. The reason it was relevant to me is my definition of reliability isnt how much trouble its been in the first 15 years of its life... as i expect any car to be reliable during that period (providing it is properly maintained). I was trying to gauge if the really old hondas were still alive and kicking.

I suspect there have been many losses, not so much mechanically but due to rust.

Other than you, I really appreciate all of your opinions, I've been researching this for quite a long time and in the very end there is NO tradeoff in reliabity (from what i've read/been told), and the integra is IMHO a lot better looking car and the engine is a lot easier to work on. I think that's the route I'll head down. However don't all be alarmed ... there is a little secret something sitting in my garage that will be needing a build thread soon ... cough1jzgtecough ....
