now the question is can the standard black ae85 bumpers be painted. I was thinking of putting a chin spoiler on the front when i get it re sprayed. (perks of having a mates dad who is a pannelbeater) But i dont really like the look of the black bumpers and trim so the trim is comming off . I want to get the bumpers painted white like the rest of the car but can these bumpers be painted? I havent seen any photos with standard bumpers painted just body kits

any bumpr can be painted, just need corect prep and paint, so same process as painting plastic components as far as i know

i just dont like the black bumpers i think it would look a little od to have a black bumper with a white chinspoiler on it

slideways old AE86 had been repainted red all over including bumpers i think. its looked kinda weird to be honest.

im thinking i may have to go the aftermaket route then but didnt want the hassle of trying to find facelift indicators and lights to fit on the vertex bodykit im looking at

i know why cant i have a facelift model thats why i was wanting to see if i could paint mine with the chinspoiler like one of these i had one on my escort and it looked pretty good

totally agree with rollaholic. unless its aftermarket bumper leave them black. my vertex bumper is gloss black and i think it looks great. if you want pics i can take some.

but yes you can paint std bumpers. i thought you would of asked the pannelbeater first.

and yes its a b!tch finding indicators for facelift levin. but early ae92 ones fit, i just have to find some. im using non facelift ones atm.

dont paint. cause if you ever decide you want it black plastic you cant...

my 86 has been painted due to repair and its all stone chipped.... im currently sourceing and ae8 levin bumper so i can have lovely black plastic again

interesting iv got a chin spoiler 4 my face lift silver trueno was gana give it the bumpers the gloss black treatment.
