awesome engines, very peaky, they don't come alive until after 6000rpm though. they are prone to imploding when trying to change down to 4th and hooking 2nd instead, they don't like high rpm when downchanging.
the gearboxes are really nice 6 speeders, i think most or all have LSD's.
the seats are some of the nicest around outside of recaro's etc, nice and comfortable and quite supportive.

I think someone on here found the oil pump to be a weak link on the engine, something to do with the material they are made from and there is a fix or replacement for it.

oil pump is only an issue if you fit sub quality aftermarket pulleys or the stock pulley is dodgy
the only 2zzges i have heard of blowing up were due to either aftermarket pulleys or in one case a crash damaged stock pulley

Fuel economy should be about 9-10L/100Km
Definately better than a corolla with the same engine as they have double wishbone rear suspension and superstrut models come stock with an lsd.

i use to own a 00 celica with a 2zz-ge quick lil car kept up to my mate 96 ITR, its quicker then my others mates ae111 the 6speed 4age,
i mastered the 1st to 2nd gear change by keeping it in lift,
i loved it was guted when i had to sell it as i need something bigger
if i had the money i would have kept it,
