Anywyas, I'm glad that everybody was to the point, thanks for that BZGbling I will try use search more often, even though I get a f*ckload of unrelated crap with it
I've heard the 3s-gte in the ceilca gt-4 is different in the manifold/turbo to the gt-t's 3s-gte, but they can have problems in the running gear :S is that right? Have looked at a few threads on builds etc and as far as modding goes the gt-4's are way less easy to do

err....did you just tell someone to buy a subaru over a legnum because of reliability?
mr30%jr wrote:actually legnum vr4s are fine. and i would say there a little competition for the GTT sh*t loads more power. my friend thrashes the sh*t out of his with no real maintenence im very supprised its still going... he did blow a turbo a week after he got it but it was from some serviceing. got a 10mm bolt in the turbo lol

What problems with running gear?
you mean transmission? certainly they hold up no problem (I have tendency on destroying gearboxes, but haven't destroyed yet any of both of my ST205 gearboxes, and I drive the things hard).
If you mean suspension, the only problematic is the superstrut, but that is only once in 100-130k/5-8years, and not overly expensive if you are DIY - about $750 for both sides and 4 hours of labour max.
As for modding one, it would be easier to do a GT4 than a caldina, at least for light mods (like different turbo for example), as you can reuse stock manifold and fit an adaptor plate. Just set the goal for reasonable power (200kw atw is achievable with bolt-on turbo and ecu, anything over 220kw atw out of 2ltr is ridiculous on a street car)
my advise stay away from VR4 Legnums, they have performance of a 20v, reliability of a Lada, and are very thirsty. Either get a subby or caldina

That'll be TRDGT4 and his ST205? From what i heard he would give his gearbox hell and it seemed to cope
