Yep I hate it.
Perhaps F*ck and C*nt can remain filtered. But filtering the rest is a bit pedantic. Also why can we say Lesbian but not Gay ?

Everyone knows what is being said if you write f*ck.
Even the word filter gives a good idea of whats being intended.

I say remove censorship completely. A lot of huge sites (like slashdot for example) do not have it. And anyone with half of brain can figure out how to bypass this $&#$% shit.

Ass is another one that's lame.

Meh, the filters have their place, but the word replacement ones are mildly retarded

censoring gay is really gay.

I agree, there are so many better words to describe something than 'gay', and so many other better ways to express oneself.

I think anyone who uses that as a word to describe something should have their entire post replaced with 'I have nothing worthwhile to say'

i reckon they should be removed also.

however they do have their place, especially when various pages are blocked because of specific word content thanks to stupid webmarshalls in various companies. so thanks to them, more people can view the forum at work.

toyspeed, helping members not do work at work since ages ago.

I agree with this. As an English teacher I spent a lot of time telling teenage kids that gay is not a synonym for bad or lame.

^^

FFS! This is why i hate the word blocker though. It has no understanding of context. G a y is not an offensive word on it's own only when used derogatively so why does it need to be blocked every time it is used.

Because a word filter that picks up on grammar and context would be really REALLY frickin difficult to navigate
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

most of it is ok, you can understand what is being said so does not take anything away from the point you are trying to make... except for gay... when its replaced with gay its just annoying.. why couldint it just be replaced with ghay or something..?
as stated previously it does have its place in letting more people wast there days away..
