Pre '89 1UZ?

Did anything produced before 31 December 1988 come factory with a 1UZ?

Lame, I searched on Wikipedia before posting, for "1UZ-FE" and it came up with nothing.

That sucks though, I need a pre 89 toyota with a decent motor in it >_<

Not allowed I want to enter a car in the new Classic Japanese Series, and the rules state the motor has to be factory fitted, not from a different/newer model.

I could put a 1G-GTE in my spare z20 but I don't really want to go backwards like that.

I know but as far as I can tell, it can be any motor that came out in the chassis, not just the one that particular chassis had.

1GGE can be more powerful than 4AGE 16V, it is basically same motor with 2 extra cylinders...

Yeah a 4AGE would be an option if I had a car to put it in. I meant cheapest because I already have a chassis, gearbox and spares for a Z20, so a 1G would be good in that.

If I can find a complete running car with a 4AGE in it for a reasonable price its definitely an option.

Am pretty sure that's a myth. Yes they look very similar in construction and appearance, but that's just because they were designed in the same era. 2T-GEU and 18R-G look very similar but are completely different engines.

The 1G-GE and 4A-GE don't share any parts from memory, their bore/strokes are different sized, even the cambelt arrangement and water pump placement is different.

Yeah I am aware of that, but technically the whole concept is very similar, similar valve angle, valve size and combustion chamber...

Ahh right gotcha, I thought you might be building a new car and a Z20 was just considered familiar territory/most grunt potential. Disregard that last post 5V-EU is a 4litre iron block pushrod V8 Toyota had, last of the "V" series Toyota motors which go back to mid/early 60s Toyotas I believe Pretty sure people use them in boat racing and such these days, pretty tough.

I would build another car if it worked out cheaper, its just that I've got quite a good selection of bits that work together.

A 1G-GTE, rebuilt with a bit of headwork, a nice turbo and other bolt ons should go alright, and I still have my daily JZZ20
