Shipping, anyone work for NZPost?

Postby FST4RD » Fri Feb 27, 2009 4:59 pm

I need to get a Starion bonnet from Chch to Auck.... I know there's a million subjects about this on this site.... But....

Mainfreight quoted $102 door to door... not to bad.
Went on to the NZPost website and for a 1380mm x 1110mm x 80mm x 15Kg parcel (just guessing the weight) they quoted:
ParcelPost™ Tracked
1. Zonal Postage Only
Nationwide 1 - 3 Working Days $50.50

So if I bubble wrap it up, rock on down to the NZpost shop they're going to be fine with this right? I haven't found anything that says that they won't send car parts, well bonnets anyway....

Give them a bell, but if it falls within their parameters and doesn't pose a hazard then it should be fine.

Yea, thats the first thing that popped into my head too...
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Apparently the bonnets weigh about 20kg's about...
Even in the rate finder with 1380mm x 1110mm x 80mm x 25kg's it still works out at $50.50.....
Guess with some bubble wrap and cardboard and tell them it's a huge picture I should be fine

the website is an estimate only. You need to call a post shop and see what they will and won't take to confirm if you can or can't put the bonnet through at that rate.

If you know someone with a business, ask them if they have a courier service and get a quote from them.

For my business I use a couple of companies for logistics. One is day to day, one is for larger items.

Well it's got to be sent so have to package it up regardless....
So will package it up, there's a postshop just round the corner so will pop round there with it and ask them, if not will take it to mainfreight.

**Volumetric weight calculation:
(Height (m) x length (m) x width (m)) x 200 = volumetric weight (kg)

1.380 x 1.11 x 0.08 = 0.123 x 200 = 24.5
plus packaging....
if you can get it wrapped staying under that, you still have to get past the counter nazis! i have had things refused that according to their website are fine

no its not
most courer out fits take anything as long as its ticketed correctly and fits in there van it will be sent

talking nzc and c post

i can send a 25kg 2.3m x 1.5m x 80mm curved tractor glass door around nz for less then $80

bonnet is easy but it will be pricey doing things this way

but fast ways or post haste will be your best bet,t

i would still stick with mainfreight tho, may take a wee while ( 3 to 5 working days ) but its going to be cheaper

Drop it at a mainfrieght depot and get them to pick it up for a local depot to save money.

I just got a set of rims with tyres 0.16m3 60kg Nelson to chch next day for $50.
(just an example)
