Argh, need caliper bolt for Caldina

Postby snwtoy » Mon Mar 02, 2009 2:56 pm

Toyota don't have any in the country, and I can't wait 3 weeks to get the car mobile again.

Short of going to a wrecker, who may or may not sell me just the bolt, can anyone recommend someone in auckland who can supply custom bolts, or is likely to have one that will fit?

The bolt is about 90mm long, with thead on only the last 30mm. 12mm head.

:( :?

Had the same problem - take the broken bolt to any bolt shop/fasteners shop.

Is that an accurate measurement or just a Guesstimate?

I assume from your recent postings and the description that these are the bolts from the slider of the rear caliper. If so then the EPC lists 2 bolts both 8x1.25mm one is 62mm long with 20mm of thread and the other is 56mm long with 15mm of thread.

If that's the case they are very common and there's a long list of models that you can obtain them from.

A used one of the correct grade is better than a new one of the wrong grade ;)

Bay Engineers Supplies or Atom Fasteners since you are in East Tamaki. Beware though that Atom fasteners would look at you funny if you ask for just one bolt.

Get a second hand one. Its not like they actually do much work. You really want one the right size as I'm assuming you're talking about the slide bolts

(was a guestimate on the size, hence 'about 90mm') Very true. The bolt on the driver's side was a bit different to the one on the passenger side. The driver's side simply had M stamped on the head, and only a regular removable washer, whereas the passenger side had 7 stamped on the head, and had both a washer and spring washer which were captive.

Sweet, back to the WOF place I go :D
