Have only just found out about this, I saw the article in the paper during the week but didn't tie it in to Dave until I saw his funeral notice in the newspaper (which I never normally look at).

He was a great guy on the forums and an even better one in person, who am I going to talk shit with in the freezing cold at the end of the meets now??

Condolences to Karyn and the cats as well as the rest of his family. I had occasion to meet some of his family and were all lovely people.

His memorial service is being held tuesday the 24th at 10.30am at hope and sons just across from Cooke Howlinson Toyota.

RIP dave you will be missed.

Dave had his funeral today.

The funeral chapel was absolutely packed with people and it was standing room only four deep at the back. It was interesting to hear parts of his life which I did not know and it seems that always with Dave that what you saw was what you got, he was just dave no matter what.

Maybe the best thing was that both ends of his coffin were emblazoned with the Toyota, Altezza and TRD logo's, some may think that having a j-spec cat is hardcore but having a J-spec coffin, that's something else.

It seems weird at my time of life to be losing a friend, in your teens and twenties you tend to lose a couple from sheer stupidity (But for the grace of god there go I) and when you get old you check the obituaries every morning to see how your friends are but this just seems strange.

One thing that was said over again at the funeral was that we should all go and tell the people that we love how we feel right now, you might not get another chance. I for one rang my wife straight after to tell her and I think that maybe we all should.

Chris.

Very well put. Its good to hear the Toyota thing was represented. God forbid, if i am struck down any time soon/in the not to distant future I want at least one or two toyota things at my funeral.

I know its morbid, but it makes me wonder how many other toyspeeders have come and gone, just without anyone noticing.

I sent a card to Dave's wife too. :)

Didn't really want to attend another funeral (as bad as that sounds), as have had three in the past year and a bit (Mum's mum to cancer in November 2007, Mum's dad to cancer in October 2008 and Mum to cancer in November 2008 - three days before her 50th brithday) and thats a bit too many. :(

To anyone who knows Dave, does anyone know if he's the man behind www.one-day-deals.co.nz? I notice the site went quiet right before Dave's death. I've always suspected it was him behind the site but just want to confirm.

I'm pretty sure he was mates with the guys who started voucher mate. As he used to work with them when he worked in the hospitals IT dept.

Did a whois on that site, looks to be someone based in CHCH.
