Repco/Appco, we usually carry a dozen bottles in stock. Ask Brendon what I quoted him, wasnt too bad from memory.

This stuff is normally $35 a litre..

I priced some up and it was $35 a litre through repco.
Not cheap!

yea all the ralliart evos use it, and they recon they have tried HEAPS of oils and found this to be the best.

how much are you looking for baz. I am doing a stock order from castrol on friday. I may be able to do a good deal, i'll price it tommorrow

Exactly the reason I tried it - was helping out on some group N WRC cars and picked up some cheap on the side of a bulk order they were making.

Yea no worries, I can get that price at a few places as well.
I guess if you dont buy in bulk its not as cheap.

I'm looking into other oils now, apparantly this oil will polish the syncro rings just like the redline, ralliart guys said they only used these with some other type of syncro which isnt brass.

hey barry dont know if its much help but i have a good mate who works at a hydraulic shop + total outlet who has box oil, got 10L off him last week.

dont know what the total oils are like though?

Done alot of research on gearbox oils this week.

Castrol SAFXA probably wont be suitable as the will polish the syncro rings fairly fast. According to the product data sheet for this oil it says in the cautions section: Do not use on syncroniser gear boxes!, will cause blah blah.

So I decided on the motul Gear competition 75w/140. Which is the same weight as the castrol but says its designed for syncroniser gearboxes and for LSDs.

Another option is Mobil1 SHC1D 80W-140 if you cant find the motul or its to expensive. 5L retails for @$150

I use the Castrol SAF-XA in my LSD, its good stuff. But yeah got to be careful of GL ratings & friction modifiers etc, especially in gear boxes.

I get the motul at cost price so its cheaper than what I can get the Castrol for.

And again with the mobil its not recommended for syncros just like the SAF XA, will slowly polish your syncro rings. For normal use you prob wont notice but if your taking it to the track all the time like my self this will happen alot faster and your gear shifts will be slown down alot.

The Motul & Mobil are both GL5 so there should be no difference. Castrol is GL6 as it has added friction modifiers, so not suitable. Both motul & mobil say they have "included friction modifier" in their product info sheets. Although we put specific friction modifiers with the Mobil at work in Falcon & Explorer LSDs.
Maybe Redline 74w140 would be better suited as it has no added modifiers

I've never liked any of the mobil products, thats just my personal preferrance. So I would never try it with my 500hp.

The motul stuff says is excellent for syncroniser boxes. the mobil 1 doesnt state anywhere that its good for syncroniser gearboxes. - Not recommended for automatic, manual or semiautomatic transmissions for which engine oil or automatic transmission fluids are recommended
I dont like this sentance. It can be read in 2 ways.

The redline stuff - I was using that redline but the heavy shock proof to protect the gears as I get alot of movement in the box etc. But polished my syncro rings over time. Good oil though for gear boxes with problems.

When i was looking at that redline MTL oil they didnt reccomend me to use that stuff with the power output I have.
