okay well I'm not having much success so far. Have been to repco, all they have is standrd pads. BNT, had heavy duty rears, but nothing for the front. Went to a brake shop who told me that all I would need would be front pads, they all seemed like a bunch of monkeys, and I wouldnt let them near my car from what I saw.

So, can anybody point me to a good place in chch? Otherwise I am considering pulling out of the track day, rather loose $100, than the car stuck in the wall at the end of ruapunas straight.

How much power does your car make? Gen 1 or 2 brakes? If you have gen 2 brakes and you don't make huge power I don't see the reason of pulling out of track day.

You can still have a blat, it's the constant braking that kills it, 1 or even 2 laps won't hurt, as long as your brakes are in resonable condition and fluids are bleed.

There's a lot of people on MR2OC that are only using Gen 2 factory brakes and they do a lot of track day, most of them find the brakes capable of what they're doing, and they all make respectable power.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Ive got a gen 1, with gen1 brakes, and standard power. If I cant get some pads, I will do a fluid upgrade at least, and prob just take it easy into the heavier braking zones.

From what i can see, ive got EBC greenstuff in my SW20 turbo. A bit noisy when cold but brake awesome. Not sure how much they cost tho, came in the car when i brought it.

In chch, NZPerformance sell EBC pads. www.nzperformance.co.nz

do a fluid change and a check then go have fun
if all is ok you will be fine
yes you may get some fade, but your not going to suddenly lose everything so you will get plenty of warning.
if you cant get any HD pads, take a set of standards with you as spares

My last track day didn't take too much off my standard pads so if they have a bit of meat they should be ok if you are pressed for time. Definitely get the fluid flushed/replaced/bled.

Get a wheel alignment done if you haven't had one for a while too...

Well track day was today, and what a blast!! Standard brakes were fine, didnt notice to much fade so was stoked! Never had so much fun in a car before! And teh car came back in one piece which was a bonus (unlike one other car out there which you may hear about).
