Celica 240kmph Speedo

Postby muppet » Tue Apr 14, 2009 10:42 am

Been looking on ebay.au and have come across 240km speedo's on the Aussie version St202-4. Why didn't the NZ and Jap versions have these and if I was to get one of these aussie 240km speedo's would they require any modification to the loom or would it be just a case of plug and play.
I have never seen these on a N/a ST model Celica par the GT4's.

Japanese vehicles don't have these as they are limited to 180kph.
I would assume NZ would import new vehicles from Japan.
I would also assume NZ assembled vehicles would have 240kph speedo.

I'd imagine an NZ new would have a 260kph speedo. All the NZ stuff has a speedo that allows for more than the car is capable of in stock form.

In the case of the ST185 and SW20 the speedos can be swapped. Plug and play into the instrument cluster.

The only difference between a ST185 180 kph speedo and a 260 kph speedo is the markings on the face (well duh) and some solder jumpers on the circuit board that can be changed to adjust the needle sweep to suit the face.

I'm guessing that this applies to the ST205 also.

Really looking for a complete speedo tacho and gauges for the St202, rather than apating a speedo into my unit.

Strange.... That one has a boost gauge. All NZ new ones were N/A, so had a voltmeter instead.

my car isn't nz new. I've simply installed the nz new speedo in my jdm turbo cluster - the only differences are in the markings not the actual gauge

Factory 300km/h on the Honda :)

Any reason you want a 240 one over the 180 anyway?

Speedo size is directly proportional to penis size.

Exactly - any real racer will disconnect their speedo when on the track

It's distracting as hell!
