Looks bloody ugly from the front and WTF at $47k base price. Then again after having a quick look around its about on par. Would rather an accord euro wagon my self.

it looks like the front and rear wheel arches were designed seperately by two different designers! front end looks like a bloated corolla and camry blended together.

Who cares what it looks like it's just designed to cart families/reps/crap around in safely anyway. No one buys an Avensis because of it's sexy, exciting styling.

Now, as I look at the pics, it kind of does not look the same, but when you see them on the road is another story...

I $&#$% up.

Need to check my eyesight.

I agree. Handled ok, but had no grunt whatsoever. On a par with the late model Camrys. Poo.

surely the Avensis isn't that bad? afterall it *is* a toyota whereas the Cavalier wasn't.

What's wrong with the European sourced Toyotas?

they are not really as bad as a cavilier, but its the next closest thing to one!

just not as reliable as jap sourced cars tend to be, seems to be a trend with other market sourced cars, like some of the south african built corollas, had iquality ssues jap ones didnt.

imo it says a lot about a car if the companys own techs consider them to be unreliable and awful. one thing i recall is the headlamps on them. very very common for them to fail. and being fancy ones they are not at all cheap to replace. how would you liek to spend $1200 every 12-18 months on a new headlamp?

yikes, yeah that's not really ideal.

I know the new Mitsubishis are usually sourced from Thailand, can't say I've heard of reliability issues (well.. on top of the standard Mitsubishi reliability issues) from them.
