good thing second hand parts for them are everywhere  and being a souped up lancer......they share a lot of parts with base models as well.

I can't think of [m]any things you'd need to buy new from mitsi

Haha, the press tend to hype about a car when they are impressed by it. There was plenty of talk about GT4s when they came out, I remember reading about them in the 90s and finding them quite interesting. EVOs were a clear class above them though.

To be honest i'm yet to hear of anyone having to replace their rear control arms on an evo (unless said evo found a curb in which case you'd be screwed regardless of what car it was). In the unlikely event that you did need to get one, there is no shortage of wreckers with evo/gsr/lancer/mirage parts - hell there are plenty being wrecked for parts on trademe at any point in time...

Suspension arms aren't a consumable....most people will never have to replace one during their ownership. I wouldn't base my decision on whether to get a car or not on the availability of a part you will more than likely never have to replace. Of course it's going to be expensive from Mitsi - it's not a high selling item - this is the same for all vehicle manufacturers, ever tried to get a timing chain kit from Nissan?

B1, yeah as i mention its the same for other cars as well

i0nic, they do wear, we get asked for them about once a week for evo 3 and earlier. ball joints and bush's wear on them  and as i stated its the same for a lot of cars. my point was not all parts that are common to replace are easy to get. and that also goes for many cars

just something to watch for if your testing an evo to buy

As far as the early wrx models go isn't there bugger all difference between non sti and sti models? I know they've both got the TD05's the IC is silver, slightly different seats but things like injectors ecu are the same.

I'm not too sure TBH...I believe that my one is supposed to have 260hp vs the STi 280. Mine has all the alloy bits that STi's do, but there must be some chassis differences between them.
