My doors keep locking themselves when moving

Postby EVL20V » Sun Apr 19, 2009 5:07 pm

early 90's camry with the auto door lock feature (once around 30km/h)

anyways i turned the kiddy locks off on the back doors, and drive off and the doors lock and then it keeps locking every 2 seconds. Is really annoying

I reveresed what i did with the kiddy locks but no luck

  possible solutions?

They were designed to do that .You need to disconnect the speed sensor.

Don't disconnect the speed sensor to the ecu if your going to cut wires.

Is it trying to relock the already locked doors? ie, going click click click

SOLVED! 8)

Theres probably some underlying reason for it, but i just flicked one of the back doors (that didn't respond) and drove off, and only locks on me once, like it should  Great feature to have if your a taxi driver and dont want people jumping out in a hurry

Common problem on those models,

Drive down the road till it locks the doors,
Stop,
turn your head around and see which of the back doors in not locked,
that door needs a new catch/lock assy.

Locking it will stop the noise, but it will either not unlock with the central locking, or will unlock and go back to the clicking state again.

Well call them pedo-locks .... great for driving off from primary schools and not having the children jump out of the back.

It is one of the most annoying features, along with reverse tilting mirrors (I don't want to see what is under the car FFS, I want to see what is behind when I reverse).

Quite common now,

and a real PITA when your reversing, but not into a curbed park as all you see is ground.
