Stronger diff needed

Postby CelicaGT8 » Wed Apr 22, 2009 12:43 am

Celica gt4 - 1uz

Ok, so im needing to put my rear end in, but first i need to do something about the diff.

The standard diff wont handel a 3sgte in rwd let alone the 1uz,
so does anyone no of different internals i can use? prefer lsd

Or

What diff would be recomended as a replacement?
Needs to be reasomly cheap, and easy to replace the old diff

if its only going to be RWD then i'd say you'll need a G series IRS diff head outta a Cressida/Supra/Chaser etc etc if 4wd you MAY get away with an F series IRS from an altezza or similar

justen's Gt8 ran a standard rear , killed it pretty quick with a forced 1uz ..

he now rums a JZA70 rear end in it modified to fit in the gt4 cradle ..

its holding - but is running an aftermarket LSD ..

Its only weak point is the small gt4 hub barriers i believe - though last note was he was investigaring getting these changed ro jza70 or 80 spec

Im going to use the standard rear cradel aswell, the gt4 hub barriers are the least of my probs at the moment...
Im just staying NA atm, and rwd

Isnt there a 3.9to1 G series diff?
Would you recon that would be the best to run with?

And it sounds like G series is the one to stick with, does anyone have one to sell, even if it isnt the preferd ratio, it could still be used as a mock up which is what im needing atm
