interesting you mention boots as i have done two on the rear half shafts in two days at puke.
Whats this circlip under the boot trick one of you mention?

Ill be replacing all three sets of shafts with new boots and they will be in the spares box at all outings from now on.

When you install the boot and about to clamp the boot to the shaft, slide a failry large split pin (can be anything really thats around 30mm long and 3mm tall) under the boot so it sits in between the shaft. Then do up the clamp. This leaves small breathing holes.

I cant upload pics here at work.

That seems VERY strange does it not?

What kind of speeds are you hitting on the back straight? And what diameter tyre are you using? I wonder if centrifugal forces are causing them to split?

Basically so the split pin is running parallel to the driveshaft and sits between the boot and the driveshaft.

Like the red line here:

I dont think its got anything to do with the speed on mine as at taupo I onyl get up to say 180-200kph. And I still split boots.
Drags I get up to 200kph and its fine.

As soon as you introduce corners, the drive train gets alot hotter!

My car is still not ready. Having oil pump issues. Hope to have it fixed by the weekend, still gota run in the new engine and then do a high boost road tune.

I have taken turbo/wastegate/manifold off, and have yet to cut rotate and re-weld the new wastegate flange on. Replace water lines that have overheated and cracked due to lack of heat shields. Make heat shields for brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder and for some water lines and the oil drain, and for the oil feed. Source gasket for manifold to turbo.

Oh yeah and get 2 new hard lines made up from master cylinder to proportioning valve. And hope that my brake caliper adapters are done in time, and when they are, measure and get a new fitting put on the end of my my SS braided brake lines. Then bed the brakes in.

Oh yeah and pull gearbox out, rip it apart, put in missing shift link pin thing, make up and press in a new sleave for gear stick selector thing

AND I'm still going on the 1st! So you're little "oh boohoo I have an oil pump and tune issue" is NOTHING! haha :P

My oil pump issue is bigger than all your issues. Your issues are easy to fix.
My issue is we dont know why they keep stuffing up :P

Heaps of people came to this day, so many cars, was going to be an awesome day but my car only lasted around 5 laps :(.
Must of got detonation somehow, head gasket is gone along with some pistons rings it sounds like, Havent pulled it apart yet to find out the story. Was only running 15psi.
